Maeve & Liam | Southern Pines at Wedgewood
Maeve and Liam are the absolute sweetest together, and these photos will prove it! From the very first email Maeve sent me after finding me online, I had a feeling this wedding would be something special. And it truly was. Their energy is joyful, their love is deep, and their day? One word: dreamy.
They said “I do” at Southern Pines at Wedgewood in Farmville, VA – just a little over an hour from Richmond. This venue offers such a beautiful blend of indoor and outdoor space. With a peaceful lake, tall trees, and tons of natural light pouring into the reception space, it truly set the stage for a spring wedding full of meaning and whimsy. Not even mentioning the team working at the property that felt like family just driving me all around on their golf carts – Kathryn Howell, their day-of coordinator, was phenomenal to work with and made everything flow with such calm confidence.
Maeve and Liam met at church during their seminary internships and have been together for over two years. They’re the kind of couple that makes you smile just watching them interact – both so sweet… a kindness, and an effortless connection. Liam is laid-back and bubbly at the same time, and Maeve’s warmth balances him so beautifully.
Their wedding colors – a soft, romantic blend of lavender and sky blue – were inspired by their favorite hues, and you could see the theme carried throughout the day. From Maeve’s dreamy lavender heels, to the bridesmaids’ sky-blue gowns from Azazie Bridal, and the delicate wildflower bouquets created with Fifty Flowers, it all felt ethereal.
Even the invitation suite matched the vibe – soft toile prints, satin ribbons, gold bird details, and a flat lay I could’ve styled for hours.
Maeve’s stunning dress from Church Street Bridal was timeless and elegant, and it fit her like a dream thanks to expert tailoring by AG Alterations. She looked like she stepped out of a classic novel – graceful, radiant, and completely herself.
They chose to do a first look near the willow tree by the lake, and it was one of the most emotional parts of the day. Liam’s smile said it all. It was this peaceful, joy-filled moment just for the two of them – before the big celebration began. And honestly, this might’ve been one of my favorite spots on the property. That willow tree was straight out of a fairytale and Maeve was the princess!
Their ceremony took place right by the water, under a wooden arch draped in flowing fabric and soft florals. The breeze was gentle, the clouds dreamy (providing the best lighting for the ceremony), and the entire setup felt timeless. One of the most charming moments? Liam’s nephew made his entrance driving a miniature white Mercedes – and honestly, it stole the show for a minute. Guests couldn’t stop smiling, and neither could I behind the lens. The ceremony was led by Rev. Larry Cochran, and you could feel the love and intentionality in every word.
Inside, the reception space was flooded with light thanks to giant windows that overlooked the course. Soft florals in vases, paired with classic white linens and light blue napkins, decorated each table. The whole vibe was effortless and elegant – just full of heart and beauty. The reception meal, provided by The Fishin’ Pig, was a hit — flavorful, warm, and served with care.
We made sure to take full advantage of the property’s beautiful scenery – from the lake and flower trees to the open field that glowed with light. The photos of Maeve and Liam walking hand-in-hand through the meadow? I’ll be swooning over those forever.
Their wedding party brought the energy too – a joyful crew dressed in soft blue and light grey, with wildflower bouquets and so much laughter. They were FUN!
And when it was time to party, DJ Greg Gillis brought such a great vibe to the dance floor. From the first dance to the final song, he kept the celebration flowing seamlessly — and gave me some of my favorite dancing shots of the night.
When I asked Maeve and Liam what mattered most to them in their wedding photos, they said: “We want to remember the expression of the day.” And I carried that with me all day long – watching for moments of joy, anticipation, stillness, celebration.
Maeve and Liam, thank you for trusting me with your memories. Your day was full of light, love, and intentional beauty – and I hope every single image brings you right back to how it felt.
