Malia & Chris' Wedding

From our very first meeting at a Starbucks in Richmond, I knew Malia and Chris were something special. Being local made it easy for us to meet in person and really connect — and from the start, their dynamic felt natural and full of ease.

Malia is sweet, funny, and peaceful all at once. Chris is exactly how she describes him: goofy, outgoing, and deeply kind — especially toward her. Together, they balance each other beautifully. They love traveling, spending time outdoors, and sharing adventures — including a trip to Germany that quickly became one of their favorites.

A Season of Joy and New Beginnings

In the months leading up to the wedding, life surprised them in the most beautiful way: Malia found out she was pregnant. Baby Caden was already so loved, and that joy carried gently through every part of the day.

Their wedding took place on one of the most beautiful spring days Richmond has seen this year — warm, light-filled, and calm. The setting couldn’t have been more fitting for a day rooted in love, faith, and family.

A Timeless Meadowbrook Country Club Wedding

They chose their Meadowbrook Country Club wedding, a classic and welcoming venue in Chesterfield, Virginia. From the moment I arrived, I was reminded why it’s considered one of the most beloved Richmond wedding venues for couples who want elegance without stiffness.

A huge thank-you to Mickaela and Amy, the venue and day-of coordinators, who were kind, organized, and incredibly supportive throughout the day.

First Look in the Gardens

One of my favorite moments happened early in the day, in the Gillette Gardens. As I scouted portrait locations, that space immediately stood out — lush greenery, a beautiful gazebo, and a peaceful atmosphere that felt timeless.

That’s where Malia and Chris chose to do their first look. Surrounded by greenery and quiet, the moment felt intimate and unhurried — perfectly reflective of who they are as a couple.

As a Richmond wedding photographer, these are the moments I’m always drawn to: calm connection, genuine emotion, and space for couples to truly be present together.

Ceremony and Reception Inside the Clubhouse

Both the ceremony and reception took place inside the Meadowbrook Clubhouse, overlooking the gardens. With around 130 guests, the space felt full yet cozy — filled with natural light and warmth.

Every room opened onto a terrace with garden views, and later in the day, we even had access to the golf course for golden hour portraits (yes — complete with golf carts, thanks to Amy and Mickaela!). Between the gardens, fountain, and rolling greens, we had endless beautiful locations to work with.

The sage green and champagne color palette brought everything together seamlessly — soft, elegant, and joyful.

A Wedding Rooted in Family

One of the most meaningful moments of the day was the three-ring ceremony, which included Malia’s daughter, Madison. It was a beautiful and intentional way to honor their new chapter as a family, officially welcoming Madison as Chris’s stepdaughter.

The energy throughout the day was calm, joyful, and celebratory — just like Malia and Chris themselves. And once dinner wrapped up, the dance floor came alive.

Sacred Moments I’ll Never Forget

I cry at every wedding — but this one truly got me.

Malia and Chris’s first dance was tender and emotional, but the father-daughter dance brought me to tears. Watching Malia’s dad hold her hand to his chest as she cried was such a sacred moment — one of those quiet scenes that stays with you long after the day ends.

It’s a gift to witness these chapters in people’s lives — especially when they begin to feel like part of your own story, too.

Gratitude and Blessings

Malia and Chris found me on Zola, and I’ll always be grateful they did. I photographed their wedding for over ten hours and cherished every moment.

Malia and Chris, may your life together be filled with peace, joy, and abundance. Thank you for trusting me with your story — it was truly an honor.
