There are places that hold history… and then there are places that feel like a fairytale. For Anna and Matt, the University of Richmond was the perfect match for their vision: elegant, timeless, and filled with the glow of fall colors. And as a Richmond wedding photographer, there’s nothing I love more than a couple who knows exactly how they want their session to feel.
Anna & Matt were so fun to photograph that I could have photographed them the entire afternoon and would still have them laughing and being sweet to each other.
If you’ve visited the UR campus in autumn… you get it.
It’s a location that brings elegance without trying too hard... and it photographs beautifully from every angle.
We explored some of my favorite spots around campus:
The iconic brick archways, and
The lake area for soft, dreamy portraits
Also, one of my favorite benefits of engagement sessions is that it’s like a “rehearsal” for portraits on the wedding day.
We get comfortable together, you learn posing cues, and everything becomes so much easier when the wedding day arrives.

We even practiced the aisle exit dip... because who doesn’t want that movie-moment shot after saying “I do”? By the time their wedding comes, they’ll already feel like pros in front of the camera. And that’s exactly the goal!
These two have such effortless chemistry. They giggled their way through windblown hair moments, crushed the dramatic poses, and soaked in the joy of celebrating their season of engagement.
I love when a couple shows up excited to be present with each other... it always translates beautifully into the photos. Anna and Matt did just that.
