With Ariane and Chris’ wedding just around the corner, their engagement session at Lake Anna feels like the perfect pause before everything begins. Sessions like this are such a gift — a quiet moment to slow down, connect, and enjoy this season together before the wedding day arrives.

As a Richmond wedding photographer, it’s experiences like this that remind me why I love what I do: documenting love stories in places that feel meaningful, peaceful, and true to the couple.

A Romantic Boat Engagement Session at Lake Anna

For their engagement photos, Ariane and Chris chose Lake Anna, Virginia, setting the tone for a relaxed and romantic session on the water. As golden hour approached, the light reflected softly across the lake, creating a warm, dreamy atmosphere that felt effortless and intimate.

Being out on the boat allowed them to move naturally, laugh freely, and simply enjoy each other’s company. Their connection felt calm and genuine — the kind that doesn’t need direction to shine.

Engagement Sessions as a Prelude to the Wedding Day

One of my favorite parts of engagement sessions is how they naturally lead into the wedding experience. After finishing their session, we sat down at a lakeside restaurant to talk through wedding plans and ideas for their day on June 29th.

These conversations — relaxed, unhurried, and full of excitement — are such an important part of building trust and comfort before the wedding day. And of course, André was there with me (my husband and forever favorite person to talk weddings with).

Looking Ahead to Their Waterfront Wedding in Richmond

Ariane and Chris’ engagement session was just the beginning. They’ll be celebrating their wedding day at The Boathouse at Sunday Park in Richmond, Virginia — another waterfront setting known for its beautiful sunsets and relaxed elegance.

After spending time together during their engagement session, I already know their wedding day will be filled with warmth, laughter, and meaningful moments.
